West Stanislaus Irrigation District – (WSID)
Pump Station 5A
WAVE Engineers has provided final electrical design, construction services, power coordination and arc flash studies for Pump Station 5A project. The pump station and 5,100 feet of 96-inch diameter pipeline was designed to deliver 250 cubic-feet per second from the end of Lateral 4 to the Delta-Mendota Canal (DMC). The improvements will also be capable of delivering water to Lateral 5 and 6. These improvements will enable up to 78,000 acre-feet per year of water from the San Joaquin River to be diverted to the DMC during low demand periods in addition to providing the required capacity to meet District demands.
This project included a control building, distribution/manifold bypass piping, two (2) 500 horsepower pumps, two (2) 800 horsepower pumps, variable-frequency drives, reduced-voltage soft-starter controllers, 12.47kV to 480V transformer, modifications to District’s existing 12.47kV electrical distribution system, power monitor, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), radio communications, and additions to the District’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
